You might think: “Why as a photographer would she hire another photographer for her personal branding photo shoot”.
Here are a few reasons.
I love a great story and couldn’t imagine telling a story with a selfie.
I wanted good quality images rather than phone pictures.
I wanted to tell a story, like a feature about my brand in a magazine.
I wanted to show myself.
I wanted to share what RV Creative Studio is all about.
How did I choose my photographer?
I knew Molly Matcham from a few years back when we met during a photography workshop. I love her editorial and laid back style. The fact that she shoots 100% on film was another factor that made me choose her. Most of all, she adhered to the story I wanted to create.
It was not the first branding photoshoot I had, I did one a few years back, the photographer was great, but I didn’t know what I wanted, I had a vague idea and tried to emulate what others were doing on their website. Results? I hated the pictures because it was not me! I tried to imitate someone I was not, standing in a posh bar with a champagne glass in one hand and a big smile pretending I was living this luxurious lifestyle! I learned a lesson there, don’t try to be someone you’re not. It’s so much more fun to be able to be yourself, create a visual story around your personality and your brand. Don’t look at what others are doing; your brand is as unique as you are. Instead, think about how you want to come across to your ideal audience.
I understand that you might not know where to start, get help, brainstorm ideas work from your brand style. Imagine your clients’ journey with your brand and what you want to share with your audience.
Some images of my very own personal branding photoshoot
When you invest in a photoshoot you want to make the most of it, create images that will work on your website, your blog posts, your social media, your newsletter, brochure, marketing material. A personal branding photoshoot is an investment, but when you think about the return on investment, you get great value and images that are unique for your brand that you can use and reuse to spread your brand’s story and message.
Imagine this photoshoot like your dream magazine feature, what would like to say about yourself your brand? Think like a creative director and take control, how you want to show up and the message you want your audience to remember about you and your brand.
